This is my first post, mostly to see if this setup actually works, and I think it is :) But it’s also an answer to a question: why build a personal website today?
Social media is no longer something I want to participate in. The amount of misinformation, the censorship, the mental exhaustion it creates, and the endless data mining have finally outweighed whatever benefits there were. It might be “cringe” to build a personal website today, but I wanted a quiet space of my own.
I have total freedom on this site. I’m not boxed into standardized, boring feeds. Some beautiful and quirky examples of people crafting their own layouts are:
When you take pride in crafting the container yourself, the things you put inside it actually mean more to you. It’s no longer just disposable content meant to hack an algorithm. It’s something you made.
I’m excited to see where this goes, and I’ve already had a lot of fun putting it together.
