Hello World!

A first post introducing this personal site and why having your own corner of the web still matters.

Hello, world! This is a first post to see if this system is working. And I think it is indeed working :)

While I’m at it: why this site?

Because I just want to have one, and I think it’s cool to have my own site :) It might be “cringe” in times where all the cool kids are on social media, but on a personal site, there is much more freedom.

I have the freedom to create any content, page, or layout. Some cool examples of this are:

I’m excited to see where this goes and already had a lot of fun building it :)

Cow standing in water, saying I am cringe, but I am free

Turns out I’m not alone in thinking this way. There’s a whole lot of ideas around the “Small Web”. Personal sites connected as a decentralized network “web” rather than tenants in Big Tech’s apartment complex. Maybe that’s what makes this fun: it feels like the internet was supposed to be.

Pointers: The Small Web, The Read-Write Web, A Social Network of self owned sites

Long live the indie web!
